International Women's Day
‘Men their rights and nothing more; women their rights and nothing less’- this was the dream boldly declared by suffragette Susan B Anthony on the cover of the American women’s rights journal ‘The Revolution’ in 1868. In Australia, at the time these words were printed, women were not allowed to vote, be admitted to Australian universities, be awarded a ‘no-fault’ divorce or own property and rape within marriage was legal.
