Socks to beat poverty
In the newest iteration of the conscious consumerism movement, entrepreneurs in Sydney and New York have just launched a sock brand that fights poverty. Conscious Step has created comfortable, organic, fairtrade socks and matched each to a cause. They’ve partnered with three bold charities to get started, and embroidered each sock with a badge to represent the cause. “One pair will fund three therapeutic food packs for children in refugee camps”, said Prashant Mehta, Conscious Step’s Director in New York. “The therapeutic food packs provide a burst of nutrients for severely malnourished children.
